With fuel prices at already more than $4 per gallon and continuing to increase, initial testing has shown that the Nautilus XR E20 provides up to 74 percent lower operating costs than conventional diesel products, making it an economic, cost-effective option in the short haul off-highway vehicle marketplace. The XR E20 has been developed using Balqon’s proprietary electric drive system which encompasses complete power management, propulsion, and power conversation systems including drive trains and energy systems (the batteries and charging system).
"Balqon is committed to leading the way for the transportation industry’s shift from diesel to zero-emissions vehicles," said Mr. Balwinder Samra, President and CEO of Balqon Corporation. "Levering our proprietary electric drive systems, the Nautilus XR E20 provides our customers with the distance and power they need."
The Nautilus XR E20 also features an increased charge rate, allowing customers to charge during breaks and shift changes. The vehicle fully recharges in less than two and a half hours. The Nautilus XR E20 is commercially available immediately and Balqon has already started shipment of the product to several customers.
