A GDSE official was quoted by TDM as saying that the Office would release a safety and operational regulation on solar photovoltaics. The efforts aim at creating a framework from the standardization for the industry players in order to encourage development in relevant fields.
GDSE said solar photovoltaics involved much heavier capital investment and have a much longer return period, so it’s necessary for local governments to take measures to make it attractive to investors. In addition to the regulations, the authority will also streamline the application procedures for solar photovoltaics operation, and study the possibility of giving subsidies to initial investors and electricity subsidies for users.
Photovoltaic power generation employs solar panels composed of a number of solar cells containing a photovoltaic material. Due to the growing demand for renewable energy sources, the manufacturing of solar cells and photovoltaic arrays has advanced considerably in recent years.
Driven by advances in technology and increases in manufacturing scale and sophistication, the cost of photovoltaics has declined steadily since the first solar cells were manufactured and the cost of electricity from this method is competitive with conventional electricity sources in an expanding list of geographic regions.
In addition to the seminar, the authority is also organizing a series of campaigns to cut energy consumption, including an one-hour blackout of lighting effects on major casino buildings, and allowing civil servants to dress in casual wears while at work, in order to reduce air-conditioner usage.
