The Charter was backed by eleven founding signatory companies including RWE, GE and Vestas and is now open to the whole industry and its extended supply.
The UK has a vocal and strong anti-wind farm campaign in parts of its media. On 23 April, a group of companies, organisations and NGOs, including EWEA, wrote to the Scottish Parliament’s energy committee convenor re-stating their support for wind power and renewable energy and stressing their economic and environmental benefits, and calling for continued support from the committee.
