Renewable energy between January and July 2014 generated 48.4% of the electricity demand in Spain: 22.2% wind power, 2.3% concentrating solar thermal power and photovoltaic solar energy 3.3%.
The mainland electricity demand in July, after taking into account the effects of the timing and temperatures increased by 0.1% over the same month last year. Gross demand of 21,104 GWh was 2.5% lower than in July 2013.
In the first seven months of the year, adjusted for calendar effects and temperatures, consumption was 0.1% higher than last year. Electricity demand in this period was 142 203 GWh, 1.3% less than in the same period of 2013.
Generation of July 2014
The production of wind power the month totaled 3,659 GWh, a 28.7% increase on the same period last year, and has led to 16.8% of total production.
In July the generation from renewable energy represented 37.6% of production.
