Areva and Suez GDF negotiate an alliance in the business of offshore wind farm plants in order to participate in a large tender to be developed in May in France for the installation of 3,000 megawatts of wind power. The agreement envisages the creation of a consortium to respond to public tender to prepare the French authorities to allocate the new wind farms that want to build in various parts of the coast.
Areva bring his experience in the manufacture of wind turbines, while GDF Suez as a producer of electricity. Areva bought in 2007 the German maker of offshore wind turbine blades Multibrid. Areva Wind, which has in this country two factories, installed in the North Sea six wind turbines in a wind farm with a power of five megawatts each. GDF Suez, meanwhile, also has a branch in the wind farm business, the Compagnie du Vent, and numerous wind farms in operation or construction.
Both companies are aiming to extend the consortium to the Danish Dong Energy, that is working in the offshore wind farm for two decades and has a dozen wind farms in operation or phase of development in northern Europe.
